This multi sport challenge is timed and designed to be the ultimate warm up event for the full February to May season, to be enjoyed by all the family.
This off road course is utilizing the picturesque assets that Lake Hood and the newly constructed Ashburton River Trails.
The first year we will run:
THE FULL ON CHALLENGE
A Mountain Bike Race of 40 Kms. Around the lake and up the Ashburton River Trail across the River up to the Allenton Rugby Grounds back down the river trail to the Hakatere River Trail crossing the Asburton river back to the lake.
THE RECREATIONAL CHALLENGE
A Mountain Bike Race of 24 Kms. Around the lake and up the Ashburton River Trail across the River and down the Hakatere River Trail crossing back to the lake.
OFF ROAD ½ MARATHON RUN
An Off Road Run of approx 21 Kms. Around the lake and using the Asburton River Trails, finishing back at the start line at the lake.
A 24 Km Mountain Bike and a 6 Km Off Road Run utilizing the same lake and River Trail Course.
JUNIOR MOUNTAIN BIKE CHALLENGE
A 6 Km Off Road Race.
A 6 Km Off Road Run.
A 6 km Mountain Bike Race and a 2 Km Run.
All junior courses are set around Lake Hood.
The Lions Club of Ashburton and the Mid Canterbury Mountain Bike Club, have combined to bring this Challenge.
The location of this event is different, as the course is relatively flat and fast with off road challenges. It is central to the whole of the Canterbury plains and is close to main centers. It has established facilities, in a safe environment in an Ashburton District Council controlled area with only one Road crossing.
Full lunch catering will be available for contestants and support crews, also hot and cold dinks.
